The Environmental Protection Agency soon will issue final standards to director of NRDC’s Climate and Clean Air Program. see health benefits from cleaner air “almost immediately,”.   This separation is not unique to China, since in many other jurisdictions, and under international law, air quality and climate protection goals are often pursued separately. One of the reasons for this is that air pollution is traditionally seen as an issue of local concern whereas climate change is clearly of a global nature. Lately.

Everyone deserves clean air and protection from the effects of climate change Janet R. Wojcik, Ph.D., FACSM | The National Oceanic Atmospheric Association Administration has just released data that show that May was the hottest .   But we could make a major dent in climate change in the near term by controlling black carbon and ozone. According to modeling conducted by the Goddard Institute for Space Studies and the European Commission's Joint Research Center, controlling emissions of carbon dioxide (purple line) is the only way to limit global warming in the long-term.

This report addresses the mitigation of short-lived climate forcers (SLCFs) and its key role in air pollution reduction, climate protection and sustainable development.

SLCFs are substances in the atmosphere that contribute to global warming and have relatively short lifetimes in the atmosphere. The focus is on three SLCFs – black carbon, tropospheric ozone and methane – because reducing them will provide significant benefits through improved air quality and a slowing of near-term.

The Climate and Clean Air Coalition is a voluntary partnership of governments, intergovernmental organizations, businesses, scientific institutions and civil society organizations committed to protecting the climate and improving air quality through actions to reduce short-lived climate pollutants.

Thanks to legislation, technology and moves away from heavily polluting fossil fuels in many countries, Europe’s air quality has been improving in recent decades. However, many people continue to be negatively affected by air pollution, especially in cities.

Given its complexity, tackling air pollution requires taking coordinated action at many levels. To get citizens involved, providing. Independent analyses of the American Clean Energy and Security Act (ACES), the energy and climate bill now being considered by Congress—such as by the Environmental Protection Agency, the Congressional Budget Office, and the Energy Information Administration (EIA)—show that the act’s costs to the U.S.

economy would be minimal. According to the UNEP Near-term Climate Protection and Clean Air Benefits report, fast action on SLCP, in particular black carbon, ground level ozone and methane may help limit near term global temperature rise and significantly increase the chances of keeping temperature rise below 2 degrees C, contingent on rapid and sharp reductions in CO2.

Climate and Clean Air Coalition Established inthe Climate and Clean Air Coalition (CCAC) is a voluntary partnership of governments, the private sector, and civil society stakeholders committed to concrete and substantial action to accelerate efforts to reduce short-lived climate pollutants (SLCPs).

By Alan Andrews, leader of the Clean Air Project at the non-profit environmental law group ClientEarth. Clean air is fundamental to healthy human life. Yet the vast majority of the world’s population lives in places where they are exposed to poor air quality, with estimated million deaths associated with exposure to air pollution in By Climate Forcers Abstract This publication may be reproduced in whole or in part and in any form for educational or non-profit services without special permission from the copyright holder, provided acknowledgement of the source is made.
